Tutti Frutti + Smile! Just Dropped: Produce Stickers and a Pile of Warped Smileys

Live now. Two Micro Wallets, both in-house, both limited.

These came out of the same studio on the same day and have exactly one thing in common. They both pull from print that nobody was supposed to keep.

Tutti Frutti

Produce stickers. Wall to wall, edge to edge, on cream. The ones you peel off an apple and stick on the counter, or on your friend, or on a laptop that now has forty of them.

The labels are the good part, because they're written like real ones. PEAR-FECT, committing fully to the pun. ARANCIA ROSSA on a blood orange. A barcode strip that just says COCONUT. There's an orange in sunglasses, because of course there is.

Open it and there's a second wall of them, denser than the front, carrying all the price-burst stickers the outside had no room for. SAVE 49¢. $2.00 DEAL. RED APPLES EST.94. Putting the busier side on the inside is the right instinct and almost nobody does it.

This is a genuine collector category, by the way. Fruit crate label lithography from the 1880s onward hangs in museums now, because California citrus growers spent real money on art to move oranges. Banana sticker collecting is a documented hobby with intense people in it. Tutti Frutti knows exactly where it's standing.

If you got Citrus Fizz on July 3, same lane, different composition.

Smile!

Different energy completely. A pile of yellow smileys with heavy black outlines, tilted and squashed and overlapping each other out to the edges.

The warping is the entire point. These aren't clean corporate smileys. They're stretched, compressed and slightly wrong, like a photocopy of a photocopy of a flyer somebody pushed into your hand outside a warehouse at 2am.

Then you open it and there's one perfect smiley sitting in the middle. Symmetrical, undistorted, surrounded by all the broken ones. The correct version was in there the whole time.

The smiley has one of the great ownership disasters in graphic design. Harvey Ball drew it in 1963 for an insurance company in Worcester, Massachusetts, trying to patch up morale after an ugly merger. Ten minutes of work. He was paid $45. He never trademarked it, and it went on to become one of the most reproduced images in human history.

Then it got taken properly. Acid house grabbed it in 1988 and put it on every flyer of the Second Summer of Love. Alan Moore ran a blood-splattered one on the cover of Watchmen in 1986. Nirvana used the drunk version with the X'd out eyes in 1991. Every one of those pointed a corporate morale graphic somewhere it was never meant to go.

Smile! is on that side of the history.

Two Kinds of Garbage That Outlived the Job

Produce labels and rave flyers have more in common than they look. Both were disposable. Both were built to be read fast, in bad light, by somebody not paying attention. Both used loud color and heavy outlines because the printing was cheap and the surface didn't cooperate. And both got collected decades later by people who noticed the design was better than it needed to be.

Format

Both are Micro Wallets. 1.3mm, 6 to 8 cards plus folded cash, front pocket. RFID-blocking, like everything we make apart from the coin pouch. Tyvek, waterproof at the fiber level, which means you can take the fruit sticker wallet to an actual farmers market in an actual downpour and nothing happens to it.

Who's Copping This

Citrus Fizz owners. Same in-house lane, and now you've got a pair.

Grocery design nerds. People who photograph supermarket signage abroad. People who own a book of crate labels. You already know why this one is good.

Acid house heads, and anyone with a firm position on which era of the smiley is the real one. The warping is the tell. Smile! is aimed at you.

People who want a loud wallet. Both of these read from across a room and neither is apologizing for it.

Two-piece collectors. Same studio, same morning, opposite moods. Take both and your rotation covers cheerful and unhinged in a single order.

Get Them

Both are live in the Micro Wallet collection right now. Limited runs, no restock, no reprint, and dual drops never sell at the same speed. If you want the pair, don't wait to see which one moves first. The full collection has the rest.
