Today we are releasing two new Micro Wallets from artist Tyler Shelton. The designs are called No Swimming and Good Boy. Two designs from the same artist, released on the same day, with two distinct vibes.
About the Artist
Tyler Shelton is an illustrator whose work tends toward designs with a sense of humor and a strong graphic sensibility. His linework is clean, his color choices are intentional, and his concepts often have a slight tongue-in-cheek quality to them. The kind of art that doesn't take itself too seriously but is clearly made by someone who knows what they're doing.
This is his third and fourth collaboration with Paperwallet. We brought the work in because both designs survive the transition to wallet scale without losing their punch, which is the first thing we check when reviewing submissions.
No Swimming (Micro Wallet)
The title sets the tone. "No Swimming" is the kind of sign you see at suburban pools, lake edges, and pond perimeters everywhere. It's familiar without being interesting on its own. What Shelton does with the concept on the wallet is where the design earns its place. We won't describe the visual details (let the product images do that work), but the wallet treats the phrase as the starting point for a composition that's playful and self-aware.
This one feels especially right for summer. June 16 is right in the middle of pool season in most of North America, and a wallet with "No Swimming" energy fits the vibe.
Good Boy (Micro Wallet)
Good Boy goes in a different direction. The phrase is what you say to a dog. Or to anyone, if you're being affectionately patronizing. Either way, it's warm. Shelton's design carries that warmth without getting saccharine about it. The composition has personality, and the phrase reads as endearing rather than corny.
This is the wallet for the dog lovers, the dad gift category (Father's Day is just five days after this drops), and people who like designs with a little humor built in.
Two Designs, One Drop
Releasing both wallets on the same day is intentional. The designs work together because they have the same illustration style but completely different moods. No Swimming is playful and slightly transgressive. Good Boy is warm and approving. Same artist, opposite emotional registers.
If you're collecting Paperwallet designs from artists you like, having both formats from the same release gives you variety within a coherent style. Pick one based on what mood you want your wallet to project, or grab both if you rotate.
The Micro Wallet Format
Both designs are Micro Wallets: credit-card-sized when closed, 1.3mm thin, holds 6 to 8 cards and folded cash. Made from Tyvek, which means waterproof and tear-resistant. The waterproofing matters more this time of year (pool days, sweat in your pocket, summer rainstorms).
